monday 7th May

well we had a good day saturday, reserving and bonding a few bunnies. sunday was my usual mad day of cleaning the 10 bunnies in my bedroom which takes all morning and then my hospital and office bunnies, got to about 3pm and collapsed. lucky i was allowed to as Vicki was manning the rescue, bless her heart she worked from 9am til 7pm.  had to wake up as had to collect a bunny from the vets by 5pm whgo had operation. felt rough and exhausted and then had to drag myself to hitchin as i was housing sitting 6 house bunnies, 3 cats and a hamster. today i woke up just about ready to face the day though wish my energy lasted forever or could pause the day as too much to do. katrina kindly manned the rescue today as ive had to once again take care of the hospital  bunnies and all their medicines and plough through emails, leaflet packs adn so much work in the office. if you are expecting bunnies to be delivered or arranging homechecks i havent forgotten you!!!!! just on the redbull again trying to get to bottom of pile of appointments to make and emails. thank you for baring with me

151 emails to answer. trying to answer them all this afternoon. thank you for your patience

somehow managed to take a couple of hours off this afternoon to visit my dear grandma. it was her birthday yesteday- 82yrs. running a rescue my poor friends and family always come last and hardly ever see me. i'm unable to attend my cousins wedding nest month because of the rabbit rescue and all my friends not in the rabbit circle i have lost touch with. an odd facebook message but paths have gone in such different directions. rehoming is going well at present but still so many bunnies in need of help. it has been a struggle to balance all the different jobs required to run the rescue. apologies to those of you who have tried to home from us but have had to wait too long. the whole process of homechecks, visits to the rescue, bonding or homing of pairs can take up to 3 weeks. thank you to those of you who are able to wait as we will get through everyone but it is so vital that things are done properly but that i also make time each week to care for the 150 bunnies at the rescue as well as time to travel to homechecks and deliveries and visit my dear grandma, thank you

hi, im interested to know how many viewers do not use facebook. each day i add many photos and info to our face book page but im anxious the info is not reaching you all. if you are viewing this website because you want to adopt a bunny or need to hand over a bunny please do look at our face book page http://www.facebook.com/rabbitresidence as it really does get filled up with lots of exciting info. if you do not use face book we'd like to know if its worth us doubling up the info on this website or our blog. we still have 9 of these gorgous rex bunnies desperately seeking a loving home and so many projects on the go that we need help with.

10th feb 2012

this last week we have been drowning and feeling the pressure  of the snow and ice. rather than giving water to bunnies taking 30 mins each day we have the tedious task of defrosting over 100 bowls of water taking over 3 hours. this is putting us very behind with other jobs such as answering emails and more importantly keeping the bunnies clean. please bare with us while we get through this hard time, thank you

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012

hello and hope these notes find you well. ive been suffering with the flu over xmas so not much has got done other than fighting to have the strength to clean, feed and ensure the bunnies are healthy. phone is now working as well as email i hope to get back to normal this week. we continue to be open to the public on saturdays and i pray this year we will find many new loving homes and dedicated owners. we have well over 100 bunnies, so many young healthy and sociable so please spread the word for people to come forward and home them and make the effort to provide the perfect home because it is so worth it.

PHONE PROBLEMS

hi i usually find it easiest to communicate by text but my blackberry has a very weird problem and ive lost my text icon, meaning i cant see if anyone has texted me. somehow i need to find time to get the problem fixed. in the meantime please email me as im not always available by phoning.

CAR FOR SALE HOPING TO RAISE £2000 URGENTLY NEEDED TO RUN RESCUE

Picture
Recently we had a very exciting but unusual donation. We were donated a car! It would be impractical for the rescue to use such a nice vehicle and so we are hoping to sell it to raise much needed funds to go towards our £4000 vet bill. At present the rescue vehicle is a Vauxhall Astra which is also impractical and in the process of getting wrecked being used to transport bales of hay, rabbits and dirty blankets. We drive long and short distances as we will travel upto 3 hours to deliver bunnies to loving new homes and rescue them too. Our aim would be to sell both vehicles and then buy a van and any remaining funds go towards our vet bill. All enquiries please contact 078508 22201 or 01763 838 582, thank you

hoping viewers of our website have found this page as well as our facebook page. i'll often have my phone on silent asking people to text or email as i drive alot and often so busy or doing things i need to concentrate like injections etc. each month we thoroughly health check all 100 rabbits. this takes many hours and about 3-4 days. i've got about 40 more bunnies to go and then ill bve able to concentrate on other things. so please bare with me on answering emails til friday as health checks are vital to their health. tomorrow i have 2 bunnies going to a new home, 5 bondings this week to sort and solve. thank you

i created this page to try to let everyone viewing this website and trying to contact me know where i was. however im continuously so busy its been a month since ive had time to update this. im often on our facebook page, adding photos of rabbits im homing and daily events. saturday is our open day and now im tired and pretty brain dead. emails will get answered as quickly as possible but as always please bare with us.

Hi, my name is Caroline and i run The Rabbit Residence Rescue. I could not do this without my amazing bunny angels, however i am responsible for meeting all visitors, confirming all adoptions, home checks and delivering all bunnies to their new homes. i waned to create this page so anyone trying to contact me by phone, text or email knows that their enquiry is not being ignored but that i am just awfully busy.

Some weeks are better than others but generally i will try and answer my emails, which can be up to 100 by the end of each week, in time for Saturday which is our open day. You will also find it easier to call me on Saturdays as often during the week i am doing alot of travelling so cant answer my phone

it is easier for me to reply to texts and emails in my own time to prevent important jobs like nursing sick bunnies getting interupted by phone calls and so often my head is spinning, if i sound like im a million miles away!

like many people who have dedicated their lives to rescue work, you will find it becomes our lifestyle. like many rescuers i work 7 days a week, at least 12-14 hours a day. i am 32 and still live with my parents which can get tough sometimes for them as well as me. last year was my first week off, let alone a holiday in 6 years. it took 20 people to care for the 100 rabbits throughout the week that i was away! it was an amazing experience and did me the world of good. sadly it will probably be another 6 years until it happens again. Sunday is meant to be my day off, though i often find it hard to take advantage of this.

the pressures of running a rescue, ensuring rabbits are  going to new homes each week, rescuing the long list of rabbits that are waiting to come into us, nursing the sick rabbits and keeping on top of all the daily tasks becomes exhausting mentally, emotionally as well as physically and one often forgets there is a life outside of this work that we are so passionate about.

recently i finally became enhausted so much i suffered dreadful fatigue and was turning into a grumpy old rescue woman. with the support of my family and bunny angels i am trying to heal as quickly as i can. ofcourse a holiday may help but long term i know i need to bring balance back into my life and slow down a bit. ofcourse something has to give, such as helping less rabbits at anyone time, leaving our waiting lists longer and potentially more rabbits left suffering.

its a constant fight as ofcourse the other solution is to home more rabbits but this is time consuming too.

ultimately i thank you for your patience and your adoption enquiries will be answered asap. we have an adoption pack to send out to you, but our requirements are on this website so  if you are confident you can offer our rabbits a suitable new home, call me on saturday if i havent answered your email during the week and make an appointment to visit. sometimes to meet in person can help you get my attention better than an email!

thank you for listening
