Our recommended food and toy suppliers
Rabbits should be fed a diet which is made up of at least 80% hay or grass, there are many different varieties of hay to try!
Rabbits should be fed around 5% high fibre pellets. At the rescue we use Supreme Science Selective pellets but Fibrefirst are also very good too.
15% of your rabbits diet should be made up of fresh herbs or vegetables. Remember to limit root vegetables as they are sugary and only feed a tiny amount of fruit as an occasional treat.
There's a list of safe vegetables here https://rabbitwelfare.co.uk/rabbit-diet/recommended-vegetables-herbs/
Alternatively, freshly gathered wild plants or dried wild plants can be part of a healthy rabbits diet too. There are many plants or trees you may already have in your garden that your bunnies would love as well as some that may be toxic too.
A brief list of toxic plants is available here https://rabbitwelfare.co.uk/rabbit-diet/poisonous-plants-rabbits/
For those of your interested in foraging wild plants for your rabbits, this is an excellent book http://shop.rabbitwelfare.co.uk/product/foraging-for-rabbits-by-twigs-way/
Remember to ensure your rabbit has constant access to clean fresh water. Here at the rescue was use large ceramic dog bowls rather than water bottles as we've found the vast majority of rabbits prefer drinking from a bowl.
There are some great ideas for home made toys and enrichment here https://rabbitwelfare.co.uk/rabbit-housing/enrichment/ & also here http://www.therabbithouse.com/blog/category/rabbit-toys-enrichment/
