Bunnies of the Week!
Every week we choose a pair of rabbits as our "Bunnies of the Week". Please see their posts below for more information. If you would like to offer a home to our bunnies please contact us on [email protected] and put Bunnies of the Week in the subject. Thank you!
Pippy and Teal - 03/07/2014
Our Bunnies of the Week this week are Pippy and Teal. Pippy is the agouti mini lionhead and Teal is the blue netherland dwarf. Teal's owner initially adopted Pippy as a friend for him and they lived happily as pampered house bunnies. Sadly their owner had allergies which became progressively worse. She was advised by her doctors to rehome all her pets so Pippy and Teal both came back to the rescue in May 2013. Teal is the bold and confident one. He loves to explore and investigate everything. Pippy is a real sweetie, she loves bouncing around in the grass and watching Teal zoom around. She will need some grooming to keep her tangle free but she's very well behaved. After being back at the rescue for over a year they are hoping to find their forever home soon.
Choccy loppies - 26/06/2014
This week we have 5 bunnies of the week, our choccy loppies! Here are Ferrero, Roche, Kinda, Bueno and Twirl. There are 2 bucks (Ferrero and Bueno) and 3 does. They arrived in January only approx 10 weeks old and are growing up into gorgeous bouncy bunnies. They get so excited when they see you outside their kennel that you can't open the door with all their little paws resting on it. They are great hay eaters with healthy poos and have even litter trained themselves. They have all been neutered and are looking for their forever homes. They are already 8 months old (that went quick!) so we'd love to rehome them while they are still so young and full of character. Groups often fight as the rabbits mature so we will be rehoming them as pairs or to be bonded with an owners' bunny. One of the does is reserved to be bonded but we're not sure which one at the moment - it depends who the single bachelor falls for. If you have a bunny needing a friend or are looking for a pair, these bunnies would love to meet you!
Ferrero, Roche, Kinda, Bueno and Twirl have all been adopted now and are doing well in their new homes!

Fraggle and Promise - 20/06/2014
Our Bunnies of the Week this week are Fraggle and Promise. Fraggle is the orange and black harlequin and Promise is the white and tan lionhead. Fraggle arrived at the rescue in April 2013. We were asked to take him along with several other bunnies because the rabbits were breeding out of control and the babies were also starting to breed and fight between them. Promise has been at the rescue since March 2009. She was bonded with her brother Zac but he was sadly prone to health problems and passed away last year. We then bonded Fraggle and Promise as both of them had been alone for a few months. They are such a sweet pair and really deserve a forever home to give them lots of one to one attention and pamper them!
Ambrosia and Doughnut - 12/06/2014
Our Bunnies of the Week this week are Ambrosia and Doughnut. They arrived at the rescue in January 2013 as part of an accidental litter. There is a video of them in our album when they were babies, its hard to believe they were that small! The litter gradually got slip up to be bonded or adopted and Ambrosia (blue fawn) and Doughnut (black) have stayed together as a pair. Ambrosia has got an old bonding injury around her anal area but it doesn't affect her at all and both bunnies have brilliant healthy poos. They were adopted late last year but their owner developed horrible allergies. After trying a dairy free, wheat free, gluten free, lactose free diet and special washing up liquid, fabric softeners etc she was advised by her doctor that she needed to rehome the rabbits. We are always willing to have our ex rescue bunnies back so we can find them new homes. Ambrosia and Doughnut are a fun loving, cheeky, cheerful pair and they were used to being with children in their last home. Their favourite thing is exploring the garden and binkying all over the grass!

Nebraska and Egg - 04/06/2014
Our Bunnies of the Week this week are Nebraska and Egg. Nebraska is mummy and Egg is her not-so-little-any-more baby! We were asked to take Nebraska and her babies by an RSPCA branch back in June 2013. The babies were only 3 weeks old and they all would sit in their food bowl on top of each other. They soon grew up from tiny fluffballs into mischievous teenagers. Taboo and Omelette are now pampered house bunnies and Cloggs went off to his new home with wifebun Freckles earlier this year. Nebraska (tan) and Egg (tortoiseshell and white) have stayed together as a pair and are hoping to find their forever home soon. Egg wants to eat whatever veg Nebraska is eating and will take it straight out her mouth and then zoom off with it. Nebraska isn't impressed but happy to eat the rest of the veg while Egg is munching her stolen goods. They went for an outing to Just for Pets the other week and soon came out to say hello to customers. They even had fun ripping bits of cardboard to shreds and kept everyone entertained for the afternoon. They also love playing on the grass and spend hours binkying up and down and playing hide and seek. Nebraska is roughly 2 years old now and Egg's first birthday is the 5th June! They are a very sweet pair of bunnies and full of character. We know there is a lovely home waiting for them somewhere and we hope to find it soon!

Alabama and Red Leicester - 29/05/2014
This week our Bunnies of the Week are Alabama and Red Leicester. These two are a beautiful pair of agouti crossbreeds. You can tell the difference if you look closely! Alabama has a little white spot on the tip of her nose and Red Leicester is slightly darker. Alabama arrived at the rescue in November 2013 and was born in Jan 2013. We introduced her to a couple of owners' bunnies but she wasn't too impressed so she stayed as a single bun until she met Red Leicester a few weeks ago. Red Leicester is one of the 12 rabbits who we were given at the beginning of March. He arrived in a cardboard box with a label "buck, neutered, 1 year old" so sadly this is all we know about his history. We decided to introduce him to Alabama as she was in need of a husbun and we find that agouti or "wild" coloured bunnies are sometimes overlooked. Well Alabama loved him! They bonded really well and have been inseparable ever since! RL is bold and inquisitive and Alabama does the funniest 360 degree binkies. They are looking for a forever home with lots of binky space and plenty of enrichment to keep them entertained.
Sadly Red Leicester developed EC and passed away. Alabama has been bonded with a new husbun and adopted by his family.

Pisces and Aquarius - 21/05/2014
Our Bunnies of the Week this week are Pisces and Aquarius. Pisces is the tan one with the white nose and Aquarius is the tan and white one with the big white stripe. They are a brother and sister pair who were born at the rescue last year. Their poor mummy Azula arrived with 5 babies only a few days old. When the first litter was 4 weeks old she gave birth to another 8 babies! Azula was only 6 months old when she had her 2nd litter so was understandably exhausted. Her babies are all grown up now but some have sensitive tummies and the occasional uneaten caecals. Their new family would need to keep a close eye on their diet and poos and of course give them lots of tlc! Pisces and Aquarius love exploring and binkying around on the grass. Their 1st birthday was on the 16th May, the best present would be loving new home...

Yuki and Silvio - 13/05/2014
We were so busy coordinating rescue places for the hoarder bunnies last week we didn't get the chance to do our bunnies of the week post. We hope things will return to normal now although we have 12 more mouths to feed and lots of veterinary treatment to give. If anyone would like to volunteer, please email us!
Our Bunnies of the Week this week are Yuki and Silvio. Yuki is the sooty fawn lionhead and Silvio is the rew lionhead. Yuki was adopted but she was returned to the rescue in November after her partner sadly passed away. Silvio was born at the rescue in April last year after his mum arrived heavily pregnant. Our lovely red eyed white bunnies are often overlooked and Yuki was quite lonely after losing her partner so we bonded these 2 late last year. They are very loved up and can often be found cuddling inside their hutch. They are a little shy but very sweet and will soon grow in confidence with some one to one tlc
Yuki and Silvio are being fostered but their foster mummy has fallen in love and will adopt them in January!

Hocus and Pringle - 29/04/2014
Our Bunnies of the Week this week are Hocus and Pringle. Hocus is the sooty fawn crossbreed doe and Pringle is the black and white dutch buck. Hocus arrived at the rescue in March 2013 with her mum, dad (Burrito) when she was only 9 weeks old. Pringle was handed into the rescue after a family member passed away and the relative wasn't able to care for him. After a few months on their own we bonded them into a pair and so they had company while staying at the rescue. They both LOVE their food and get so excited about breakfast they almost fall out of their hutch! They also love their hay which is great. Lots of people think that rescue bunnies are old but we have lots of young bunnies too. Hocus is only 15 months old and Pringle 18 months old. Both have so much life to live and love to give, they just need a family to share it with.
Hocus and Pringle have been adopted!

Magda and Pudsy - 22/04/2014
Our Bunnies of the Week this week are Pudsy and Magda. Pudsy is the tri coloured Dutch and Magda is the agouti and white English. Pudsy was found as a stray as a baby back in October 2012 so has grown up at the rescue. Magda arrived in November 2012 already 2 and a half years old. They were bonded at the rescue and make a lovely pair. They've been waiting for a home for 18 months and we can't understand why no one has offered them a home yet. Pudsy can sometimes be a bit anxious they are a bubbly, energetic and fun pair! They love charging around their aviary and will be your best friends forever if you have any veggies. We really hope that someone will give them a chance and soon they can have their very own loving home.
Sadly Pudsy has now developed some health issues so is receiving care at Caroline's house.

Tigris and Clooney - 15/04/2014
This week our Bunnies of the Week are Tigris and Clooney. Tigris is the orange and black lionhead and Clooney is her blue lionlop son. Last year we took 9 rabbits from a case where two rabbits were breeding out of control in small hutches. The mum and dad were left together when the mum gave birth so she instantly became pregnant again. They were so distressed they sadly killed their babies each time they were born and eventually the owner contacted us for help. Tigris was one of the babies from the first litters so she survived and was separated from mum and dad when the next litter was born. Unfortunately she was kept with her brothers and sisters so when she arrived at the rescue she was already pregnant. She gave birth to 4 healthy babies: Clooney, Ian, Luchia and Murphy. Ian went to his home with wifebun Zen and Luchia and Murphy are off to their new home on Friday. Tigris stayed with her son Clooney and they are hoping for a loving forever just like their relatives. Despite their rough start in life they are a healthy, beautiful, sweet pair who are looking for a wonderful bunny mummy/daddy/family to give them the home they deserve!

Our Bunnies of the Week this week are Dion and Cheeko. Dion is the agouti doe and Cheeko is the rew buck. Dion arrived at the rescue in November 2012 and Cheeko arrived as a baby in November 2011 as part of an accidental litter. Rew bunnies are often difficult to rehome so we bonded Cheeko with Dion so they had company. These 2 are a lively and active pair and have plenty of energy They would love a huge garden to sprint and binky all over!

Burrito and Larissa - 01/04/2014
Our Bunnies of the Week this week are Burrito and Larrisa. Burrito is the sooty fawn crossbreed and Larissa is the pale chinchilla nethi cross. Burrito arrived in March 2013 with his heavily pregnant wife so we had to split them up. After being single for a few months we decided it was time he had some company and bonded him with Larissa. She arrived in December 2013 with tonnes of attitude! We had her spayed but she was still a rather grumpy so we bonded her with Burrito and they share a large aviary. She still grunts at times but is often bunny flopping and chilled. Both Burrito and Larissa have bags of character and are very inquisitive. They are looking for a loving home with lots of space to run around and toys for them to investigate and chew!

Mira and Ferguson - 25/03/2014
Our Bunnies of the Week this week are Mira and Ferguson. Mira arrived at the rescue in August 2012 after being kept in a fish tank by her original owners. She is a mini Dutch with beautiful blue eyes and is now about 2 years old. Ferguson is a netherland dwarf and is about 18 months old. He arrived in May last year and was soon bonded with Mira. He is a real sweetie and very curious, he likes to help with cleaning out by sitting in the dustpan! Mira prefers rabbit company to human company but always comes over for a piece of her favourite veg and loves to explore. This lively pair are looking for a bunny mummy (or daddy!) who will give in to Ferguson's nose rub demands but also respect Mira's space and give them both lots of love!

Whitney and Whoopie - 18/03/2014
Our Bunnies of the Week this week are Whitney and Whoopie. They are a pair of gorgeous black English cross sisters about 1 year old. Whitney is the one with the speckled coat and Whoopie has the solid black coat. They were given up because their owner couldn't cope and thought they were messy. We think they are funny, cheeky and inquisitive! They would suit a family home as they are bold and confident around people.

Ruffles and McVitie - 11/03/2014
Our Bunnies of the Week this week are Ruffles and McVitie. Ruffles is the pretty grey doe and McVitie is the chocolate mini/dwarf lop. Ruffles was handed in to a vet as a stray so we don't know her exact age but we think she is under a year old. McVitie and his 8 siblings were about to be drowned in a river but a brave lady grabbed the bag they were in and brought them to us. Both bunnies have now recovered from their difficult starts in life and are looking for a loving new home!

Haribo and Arctic - 04/03/2014
This week our Bunnies of the Week are Haribo and Arctic. Haribo is the black and white Dutch cross and he has been at the rescue since April 2013. Arctic is the red eyed white nethi cross and she arrived at the rescue in July 2013. We find that rew rabbits are harder to rehome as people aren't keen on their red eyes. We decided it would be best to bond Arctic so she wasn't on her own for a long time and Haribo was the perfect match. After just 1 day together they were cuddling underneath their hutch and Haribo was grooming Arctic's head! They are a little timid so would be best suited to a quiet home where they can learn to trust their owners and gain confidence.

This week our Bunnies of the Week are Eta and David. They are a brother and sister pair who were born at the rescue in September 2012. Eta is a red eyed white dwarf lop and David is a black dwarf lop. We rescued their heavily pregnant mum Mary from a huge rescue case and Mary gave birth in Caroline's bedroom a few hours later! David and Eta are over a year old now and looking for a loving forever home.
